Greetings!

Greetings!

My name is Stephanie Peterson and I am excited to be joining Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. Like you and your families, I have made the conscious choice to come to Western Sierra because of its reputation for excellence in education and I am thrilled to be part of this amazing team of educators.

I currently hold an undergraduate degree in Sociology and a graduate degree in English; a perfect combination to be prepared for the trials and tribulations of teaching Language Arts to adolescents. I have an inherent love of learning and I am currently working on my doctoral degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning. I am enthusiastic about applying my knowledge to the classroom and sharing information with the dedicated, compassionate team of educators at WSCA.

On a personal note, I was born and raised in NorCal and there is no place I’d rather be. I have two beautiful, intelligent, amazing children (brag much?) who grew up, went to college, and have started their own lives, and I couldn’t be prouder. My son is a Project Manager for a defense contractor in Colorado, and my daughter is a Hydroelectric Engineer with the Yuba Water Agency. My husband of twenty-six years and I are now empty-nesters with our two Australian Shepherds who have each done a fantastic job of getting us through this phase in our lives. Dogs are great therapists, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

I know this is an unprecedented time in all of our lives, but I am certain that we will all pull through this with a greater understanding of ourselves and our values, but most importantly, a greater appreciation for the importance of relationships. I can’t wait to meet you all in person, but until then, I look forward to interacting with you virtually.

If you or your student have any questions for me, please don’t hesitate to send me an email szpeterson@rafos.org.
