English 7 (Period 4) Assignments

1.  Dare to Dream is due.  Please upload it to Edmodo.
2.  Bring Miracle Worker - we may spend some time setting it up on Friday.  We will need it for sure by Monday.

TUTORIAL LINKS FOR MAKING A GLOG OR PREZI HAVE BEEN CREATED ON EDMODO, SO LOGIN TO YOUR EDMODO ACCOUNT.

1. Bring a rough/first draft of the four-paragraph paper on "A Midwife's Apprentice." We will work on editing/revising in class on Wednesday. The paper is due on Friday, November 1.

2. Everyone has their assignment for their "Dare to Dream" assignment. Read through the section on the person that you have been assigned. You will then need to either create a glog or prezi about that person. You will want to include the following: when they lived, how they were educated, what they did that made them famous, how they overcame obstacles (at least 2), some type of personal connection or application, and how they are inspiring. Please check you CUPS (capitalization, grammar usage, punctuation, and spelling) and make sure that they aren't distracting to the reader. The assignment is due on 11/6.

3. If needed, links to Prezi and Glog tutorials have been created below.

1. Do a pre-write and write a paragraph to the prompt "How does the author portray the characters as real?" Please cite evidence from the book. Also, please make sure that you bring your paragraph on Friday - we will use this work to help set up the 4-paragraph paper that we will begin on Friday.

Special Note - more work appears due to the end of the quarter and students being in Advisory for the day. Students were given time in class yesterday to work on these assignments as well.

1. Work on Readers Workshop - Letter 8 should be addressed to me and be about 1/2 of a page. Write about your favorite book that you read this quarter.
2. Midwife's Apprentice - read, annotate, and take notes on chapters 14-15

2. Do what you can to get a hold of the literature for the first quarter. I apologize for the confusion in regards to the title of our first book. We are beginning Cathedral on Wednesday. We do have a back up plan for those who don't or have yet to receive their copy of the book. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.

1. Finish descriptive summer paragraph that was assigned in class today. Please use the Scafer method that was shown and modeled in class. If needed, reference the attached PowerPoint.
2. Please do what you can to purchase the literature books for the first quarter by next week. I realize that it is short notice and understand if you are unable to do so. We will be starting with Castles on Tuesday. If any family has an issue with purchasing the books, please let me know so arrangements can be to secure a copy for your son/daughter. We ask for books to be purchased so we can show the students how to take notes/make annotations, and study from the text.
