Hello AP Students,

I have some additional information about our awesome field trip to Bodega Bay on Friday, October 17th. We are still collecting permission slips TOMORROW, but I MUST have them in tomorrow so that we can get the numbers to Davis. We have separate accommodations for girls (in the dorms) and boys (in the bunkrooms). The attachment below has more information about where we will be staying. Please let me know if you have questions!

Assignment

Dear AP Bioheads,

Awesome work assembling polysaccharides today in class! I think that was a world record. Please complete the "Analyze the Data" questions A-C pg. 44 and "Do you Understand 3.2" pg. 45 #1-4 in your textbook for Monday. These are based on the reading and may require you to look up the amino acid chart (pg. 40) and the functional group chart (pg. 23) to determine how the amino acids will behave (and therefore, where they would be located within the protein---think inside or outside, surface or interior).

We will be building DNA and polypeptides in class on Monday, so even if this assignment is challenging, please give it a go!---it will become more clear as you manipulate the amino acids themselves. You're doing an excellent job!

Hello AP Biology All-Stars,

Excellent work with protein structure today in class! Please remember to do your proof-of-reading (notes, flashcards, etc.) over Chapter 1, 2.1-2.5 and 3.1-3.2. Remember, this is all of the reading we've done so far this year, so it's about time we took a closer look at your progress with it. We will have a short reading quiz that is closed book with OPEN notes: Make them fabulous and they'll be quite helpful. Have an excellent 3-day weekend, I'll see you on Tuesday!

Assignment

Hello Students!

Please read chapter 1 (pgs. 1-14)  in your shiny new AP Biology textbooks. We will build our "proof of reading" menu tomorrow with your input. All suggestions for excellent homework practice will be considered.

We will also be going over your 15 awesome questions and your summer Camp experiences in class tomorrow (in your metacognition notebooks), so please be sure that you have given them some thought. Remember, these were optional during the summer, but they will now serve as our first four assignments! Hooray for those of you who have a head start! If you're a bit lost, read the summer camp attachment below.

Tomorrow also gives us the opportunity to go on a "Pop-field trip" to investigate the albino redwood growing on our campus. Be prepared to walk around outside for about 15 minutes.

Have a lovely evening, and I'm looking forward to our third day tomorrow!
