Fahrenheit 451 Science Fiction Infographic (40 points)
Directions: Create an infographic that depicts the elements of science fiction as found in Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451:
- A time setting in the future, in alternative timelines, or in a historical past that contradicts known facts of history or the archaeological record.
- A spatial setting or scenes in outer space (e.g., spaceflight), on other worlds, or on subterranean earth.
- Characters that include aliens, mutants, androids, or humanoid robots.
- Technology that is futuristic (e.g., ray guns, teleportation machines, humanoid computers).
- Scientific principles that are new or that contradict known laws of nature, for example time travel, wormholes, or faster-than-light travel.
- New and different political or social systems (e.g. dystopia, post-scarcity, or a post-apocalyptic situation where organized society has collapsed).
- Paranormal abilities such as mind control, telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation.
For each element you must have a label (what the element is), a quotation from the book, and an image that illustrates how the quotation exemplifies that element of science fiction. These quotations must be representative of the book as a whole, so you need to find two from each of the 3 sections of the book with the final element coming from wherever in the book you choose. While you will not necessarily be graded on “artistic” ability, you will be graded for how much of a colorful representation you create.
