If you have not already done so, please complete the reading on the 1920s.

Alpha is on Tuesday we get back.  Review Imperialism, Progressivism, and WWI.  You can start reading on the 1920s if you want.  Complete questions 1-2 for Wilson docs.

Read the WWI packet and WWI ppt.  Take notes on ppt.  I will check them next class.

Read and take notes on the Progressives ppts I have uploaded.  I will check these and give you ten points for completion. Start reading the World War I packet.

Read The Progressive Era packet and be ready for some practice test questions.  Complete the USS Maine reading questions from class.

Read American Imperialism packet and come prepared to do some multiple choice practice.

Study for beta.  I will accept late homework before the beta.

Read through and take notes on the powerpoint "Settling the West" I have posted.  Write a paragraph that discusses the Dawes Act, what it was, why it was passed, and its effects.  Due at the beginning of next class.  Make sure you have read through chapter 26.  Alpha is next class.

Design a political cartoon that depicts one of the captains of industry (Rockefeller, Carnegie, or Vanderbilt) in either a positive or negative light.  It should be clear whether you think he is a robber baron or captain of industry.

 

Read ch. 25.

Start reading chapter 25.

Write a one page response on the legacy of Reconstruction.  Why did it fail?  What problems did it create?  How are we still dealing with its legacy? Due next class.

Read chapter 23 and take notes.

Type a one page response that explains your proposed plan for Reconstruction after the Civil War.  You can adopt one of the proposals from the period, combine some of the plans or create your own unique plan.  Your plan must explain how the South will be re-entered into the Union, what will be done with former slaves, and how state governments in the South will be set up and run.  If you adopt one of the existing plans be sure to explain it's components and why you think it is a good plan.  This is due the beginning of next class.  The powerpoint containing the different approaches is posted and your textbook also has good information you should use.

Read chapter 21.

Read ch. 16 and 17 over break.  Unit 3 beta on Tuesday we get back.

If you did not get to it in class, read through the powerpoint on national culture (posted on edlio) and take notes.

Outlines for beta are due at the end of the next class period.  Beta prompts are listed on website under posts.  Create outlines for three of the five prompts.

 

Also, homework over break is to read chapter 16-17.

Read chapter 13 and complete the chart on issues that occurred during Jackson's presidency.  Jackson chart is attached if you need a new copy.

We will complete the alpha (outlines for your essays next class) and your beta (the essay) will be Thursday.

Finish Revolutionary tweets.  Read and annotate the Declaration of Independence and link the grievances to the actual historical example.  Come ready to discuss the justifications of the colonists.

Work on the thesis statement for the Seven Years War prompt.

Read chapter 7 and complete the Action chart.

Read the documents given in class today and answer the historical thinking questions.  Start reading chapter 7.
