1. Short Stories Alpha on Thursday - Review plot diagrams for the following short stories: The Enchanted Horse, Ali Baba, The Gift of the Magi, Thank You, Ma'am, Harrison Bergeron. Also, review notes and examples for the following: indirect characterization, snapshots, thoughtshots, descriptive dialogue, point of view, and hooks/leads.
2. Call of the Wild Paragraph Beta - due on Monday (12/5). Do what you can to edit/revise and turn in before Monday. Please staple to the top of your first draft (alpha) and rubric.
3. Start working on your narrative - fill out the worksheet, and then write your first draft. First draft is due Wednesday of next week (12/7)
4. The sequence of literature books is being changed. The Princess Bride is next on the schedule. To spend appropriate time on it, we will be doing the Princess Bride when we come back from our next holiday break in January. In it's place, we will be reading A Single Shard - it actually matches better with our History Unit, and is much shorter read and study. We will be starting A Single Shard on Monday of next week. Electronic purchases of this book are OK - soft back copies are almost always preferable for annotation. There are copies in the room to use until students have their copies purchased.
