About Tagert

30 years of teaching History, I retired in 2022 after being selected as California History Teacher of the year by the Daughters of American Revolution.  I left the public school system disappointed by the lack of support and continued with my family's real estate team.  A year later, missed the classroom and had the opportunity to fill in for Mrs. Smith APUSH class here at WSCA.  Loved it!  Students, Administration and Parent involvement brought back the passion I once had.  In August of 2025, I came out of retirement to teach parttime AP Government and US History here at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy.

 

My wife, Kristy Ruhkala (kept her maiden name...Rocklin founder's) have been married over 33 years and have 3 phenomenal boys.  Chase, the oldest and soon to be a dad, is a paramedic.  Kody graduated Sac State in Finance and working In Utah with Morgan Stanley. My youngest, Riley, graduate of UNR and now in a Pilot training program.

 

Life is busy -  teaching, real estate and organizing travel trips with students to the East Coast every year (32 years now) and adult trips as they come up, retirement is not what I thought.  It's better!  Allowing me the time to do what I want.
