Espindola, Heidi (M.Ed. / B.S. Math & Physics)
Welcome! I am thrilled to be teaching math at WSCA. I have had a long career in education with a significant amount of time supporting districts, schools and teachers improve STEM Education. I am excited to now be back in the classroom where I can again practice what I preach!
My areas of interest include:
- Universal Design for Learning
- Building Thinking Classrooms
- Social Emotional Learning
- Executive Function and Supportive Strategies
- Strategic Planning and Program Management
- Improvement and Implementation science
- Professional Learning, including coaching and lesson study focused on inquiry cycles
I have managed DRK-12, IES, and CaMSP grants focused on mathematics and robotics and taught middle and high school mathematics, engineering, and programming to populations with high percentages of SED and SWD. As the former Placer County STEM coordinator, my recent project included Math Success for All (http://tinyurl.com/MSFAproject ), Virtual CA NGSS Toolkit for Instructional Materials Evaluation (http://tinyurl.com/virtualCATIME ), and California Collaborative for Learning Acceleration (CCLA) regional hub (https://ccla.sccoe.org/home). I also recently acted as a CA CDE K-8 Math Instructional Materials Reviewer for the 2025 state math curriculum adoption.
Regardless of my prior work and interests, the most important part of teaching at WSCA is supporting students to not only become proficient in mathematics at WSCA, but to become lifelong mathematical thinkers and well rounded humans!
