World Geography-Period 4 Assignments

You will have two choices. Pick one of them.
1. Create a political cartoon that shows the impact of Soviet Influence on all three, (East Germany, Bulgaria, and Hungary) or just one of these countries. Make sure you use a caption, labels, and word bubbles to clarify the meaning of your cartoon. Take a picture of your cartoon and upload to Google Classroom.
2. Write a paragraph that compares the Soviet Union's rule over the three countries, East Germany, Bulgaria, and Hungary, that we have just read about. In this paragraph you should show how the countries are similar and what is different about them under Soviet rule. The paragraph should be 5-7 sentences long.

Directions are posted on the Google Doc below. Submit your paragraph to Google Classroom by Wednesday. Please email me with any questions.

The work today is all an in class assignment. It is very similar to last classes assignment. Please follow the directions on the attached document and turn it in to Google Classroom by Friday.

During class today, we will go over the Cold War lecture to show how this differences between the free market democratic capitalism played out against the command economic systems of Stalin's Soviet Union.
Your assignment for today is to read the information on the Warsaw Pact and answer the discussion idea questions found in the grey box on the left side of the third/last page. Please submit these to Google Classroom by Friday.

Dear Students,

We are about to begin a new learning adventure. I will miss teaching you directly in class, but this new distance learning experience is one that we are all going through together. Anytime you have questions about anything that I can help you understand or clarify, please feel free to email at any time. As for our class’ process, Google classroom will be the main way to receive information, assignments, and post your work. Zoom will be open during the class assigned session for immediate questions, but if you miss this session, Google classroom will have everything you need.

Each assignment will be posted the night before your next class, so you can look at it early if you choose.

Attached is the letter that went out to your families from the district office in case your homes did not receive them. This letter gives you your class schedule.

In addition to your Beta, you can bring in an outline with topic sentences and listing what documents you from the packet will be used for paragraph for example

On the Beta you can use your HIPPO chart, the document packet, and the definition, 1984, and North Korea wheels on Totalitarianism.

As you read or after you read the passages find quotes that provide examples of the 7 elements of totalitarianism and write them in the correct spot on the wheel. Exact quotes or slightly paraphrased quotes are needed. Not just a word.

Read pages 368-37 "The Internet is a Tyrant's Friend." Summarize the main details of the article in 4-5 sentences and find 4-5 examples in the reading that illustrate the seven aspects

Use this for today's activity. Each student will need to fill out their own set of denouements. This is a group activity meant for discussion and choices about motives of imperialism. After the group discusses a political cartoon please record you answer on you own form. Then proceed to the next one. Please do not work separates on different cartoons and then copy each others answers. This divide and conquer way of working through the cartoons does not promote the level of learning needed.

In class Beta on Thursday. Can you chart and have the introductory paragraph and the first body paragraph done, all handwritten, and nothing else.

Read through the article once. Then a second time looking for problems and solutions. This is what you will put on your t-chart. You will draw the chart as shown in class, label the left side problems and the right side solutions and then list 5-6 examples that articles raises as past, present or future problems and solutions. Please record all your responses on a lined notebook paper, and answer questions in complete sentences. This will be collected for a grade in your third unit next class.
