APUSH-Period 5 Assignments

Today's class is similar to last class. There is no new assignment. Use today to make up any incomplete Betas or distance classwork you might have missed. The lecture today will cover the major social movements, like the Civil Rights movement, that occurred in the second half of the 20th Century.

Today in class we are going through an overview of the Cold War. The assignment for today is to do one of the DBQs from last week if you have not already done one or if you have a NC/I on a Beta from before to work on getting that done. The one below is for the replacements for the DBQ on Imperialism.

DBQ Prompt - Evaluate the continuity of women's experiences in the United States from 1890 to 1940.

In class today we will be reviewing the documents and creating and sharing a thesis statements in the chat feature for the prompt. Your full assignment to submit will be your thesis and a brief outline of a 4 paragraph essay. Except for thesis or when indicated listing and paraphrasing is okay

Assignment: Read the interviews on SS -Men who worked at the Treblinka Death Camp and answer the questions.

Today in class we will go over the home front lecture.
For your assignment there are three primary resource reading on Latin Americans, African Americans, and Japanese Americans during WWII. Read enough of them to answer the two questions following each document. Please submit your answers to the 6 questions to Google Classroom by Friday.

For the Assignment - Read the 4 Freedoms Document and submit your answers to the questions on the document to Google Classroom by Wednesday.

In class we will go over the lecture and discuss any questions you might have.
Your class assignment is to write a 5-8 sentence comparison paragraph that answers the following Question. How do the time periods when each of the secondary source articles were written affect the point of view of each author? In addition you may want (it might help you get to 5 -8 sentences) to discuss others factors that may influence each author's point of view. Please use short quotes or phrases from the text to support your answer.
If you find this challenging, make educated guesses that you think might work. In other words try it out and see what you come up with.

For Zoom class instruction we will go over the First New Deal Lecture.
Your class assignment will be to read the letters primary source and answer the three questions at the end of the document in complete sentences.

The assignment that needs to be turned in by Friday will be to read and take notes on Ch. 24 from the Amsco book. p. 496-514 and submit them to Google Classroom.

Dear Students,

We are about to begin a new learning adventure. I will miss teaching you directly in class, but this new distance learning experience is one that we are all going through together. Anytime you have questions about anything that I can help you understand or clarify, please feel free to email at any time. I will respond M-F during the daylight hours and maybe during evenings and on weekends as well or as needed.

As for our class’ process, Google classroom will be the main way to receive information, assignments, and post your work. Zoom will be open during the class assigned session for immediate questions, but if you miss this session, Google classroom will have everything you need.

Each assignment will be posted the night before your next class, so you can look at it early if you choose.

Attached is the letter that went out to your families from the district office in case your homes did not receive them. This letter gives you your class schedule.

Compare and contrast view of the United States overseas expansion in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Evaluate how understandings of national identity, at the times, shaped these views.

This is important for tomorrow's debate preparation.

This is the question you are exploring: Both Sumner and Carnegie are addressing the issue of inequalities that grow during the Second Industrial Revolution in the United States. Evaluate each man's approach to the issue.

On back of charts below the the chart, collect and write down outside information from your notes or text that can be used to help answer the question. This will get you the additional evidence point and everything on the chart can be used on your test.

Thesis statements will be shared with whole class, Peer edits of outline and whole class share outs.
