Block 3 English 9 Assignments

Have one of your annotated bibliography entries done by class on Wednesday so that I can check that you are doing it correctly. The final annotated bibliography with both of your sources is not due until Monday.

If you made below 25 points on the beta, you must re-perform. The attached form has directions for both the re-performance and the extension. You are NOT required to extend. Use your notes and the original comma presentation (also attached). Email the work to me. I will not check for it here.

Here are the questions that are due today (Wednesday)

Read the Prologue, Chapters 1 and 2. On the same Google doc, type up your journal #1 and your four examples and explanations of nostalgia (the info is on the Day 1 presentation). Upload that doc to Google class before we meet again on Monday.

Copy the edited paragraph onto this document and submit it to Google class

Compare the fight scenes. Do not choose the same DIDLS element that you used for the love scene comparison. You do not need internal citation this time. Follow this outline:

Topic Sentence - state that the two plays have similar scenes (fight) but that their (diction, imagery, language, syntax, details) creates the difference in genre.

Turn in the final draft of your sonnet to Turn It In by the end of the day.

The attached document is for drafting purposes. When you are done with the sonnet, retype it into a doc and submit it to Turn It In.

Complete the sheet. Then, type your alpha conceit on a doc and upload it to Google class.

Make sure you have completed the first three conceits on this sheet. We will complete the final conceit once we read the end of Act three on Thursday.

Look back at the map of your childhood neighborhood and choose one of the memories that you listed next to one of the landmarks. This should be one of the memories that you remember the most details about.
Write out the memory from start to finish. Include lots of detail so that the memory would come alive for a reader.
After you have written out the complete memory you will turn the narrative into a poem.
Your poem should include internal rhyme or end rhyme. It should include imagery and vivid verbs.
Your lines may be of varying length, but should be representative of poetry, not prose.

When you walk into class, I will have you paste the work onto a new document and you will upload it into TurnItIn. You will not have time to work on the betas. They must be done when you walk into class.

Use the information we went over in class today to write your two new travel logs. All of the information you need is on the beta handout that you received.Both of the travel logs need to be done by the time you come to class on Monday. We are not focusing on the Jane Schaffer paragraph portion yet.

Now that we have reviewed the first 12 books of The Odyssey, you have seen how four of the Ancient Greek values shape Odysseus’ journey home to Ithaka. Write a paragraph in which you discuss the role of respect for the gods or ingenuity and how the value plays a significant role in the journey of Odysseus and/or other characters. Make sure to give specific evidence from the text and analyze your examples:
