Hi, I’m Karen Broad and I’m very excited to be a part of the Western Sierra community. In 2015 my family and I were very happy to move back to California after spending the past ten years in Northern Indiana. I’m happily married (21 years this month) with two children and a very rambunctious dog, Karl Popper. I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking and traveling. This summer's adventures included 15 days in Europe and a week in Monterey. I’ve been teaching science for the past eighteen years and could not imagine myself in any other career. I enjoy teaching students the process of learning and exploring the world around us. I look forward to interacting with your students and hearing their ideas. We will be using Google classroom a lot this year! Keep an eye out for an invite to your student's classroom. By accepting the invite, Google classroom will automatically give you access to all the classrooms your student is a part of. Don't forget to check your notification settings so you can receive a weekly notification of your students progress on class work. I'm hoping that this will simplify the process of keeping parents in the loop for what is happening in our classroom. Please feel free to email me to let me know how it is working and if you are not receiving notifications/summaries. I look forward to working with all of you this school year.
