My name is Kari Estrada and I am thrilled to be the Director of Instrumental Music at Western Sierra! While I am new teacher to public schools, I having been working with young people for over 10 years and I absolutely love sharing my passion for music in an environment that is fun, safe, honest and challenging. My main instrument is the trombone, but I can also play many other band and string instruments to some extent. I received my degree in Music Education and Performance from Sacramento State University, where I later received my teaching credential. I play professionally in many groups in the Sacramento area, and I teach music lessons privately. I have a passion for animals - I also worked as a pet sitter and a veterinary technician for several years. I have a sweet cat named Selene, and I hope to get more animals (including a lot of dogs) in the near future!
The students at Western Sierra are hard-working, smart, talented, and a joy to work with. With their help, I know we can build the instrumental music program here at WSCA into an organization of which we can all be proud. Thank you for all you do to support the students and the school!
