Program History
In 2009-2010, my grand adventure at WSCA began with zero hour (before school) instrumental, vocal and guitar classes. In 2010-2011, in addition to the instrumental and vocal classes, I also taught theater arts with an emphasis on musical theater. Our performing arts programs enjoyed unprecedented success with several concerts, a spring musical and a performance at the 8th grade Promotion Ceremony. In 2011-2012, we moved into our new facility and split our ensembles into middle school and high school level choirs and bands.
Highlights of the 2012-2013 school year include adding an additional middle school choir, competing at Magic Mountain, participating in the choir festival at CSU Stanislaus, and continued growth and development of the music program. The 2013-2014 school year saw incredible growth in the choir program. Both of our high school choirs took first place in their competitive divisions at the Magic Mountain competition (Mixed Choir, Show Choir), and The Alphas won "Best Overall--High School Choir", beating several larger schools. This was also the year we hired an instrumental director to take over the middle school and high school bands. In 2014-2015, we took three high school choirs and our band and orchestra to the competition at Magic Mountain and were very successful. We had individual students recognized for their solo performances and our ensembles scored well. 2015-2016 brought our first trip to a "Show Choir Only" competition hosted by Burbank High School and we saw continued growth in all choirs, improving both the musicianship and performance skill of the students. We also added another team member, Mrs. Angel Call, who taught the middle school theater arts class and co-directed the spring musical. Our 2016-2017 school year saw continued growth. The advanced choirs again competed at "Burbank Blast" and were able to see some of the top show choirs in the nation perform. High School Choir 1 (Wolfgang) competed at Six Flags--Discovery Kingdom, along with our combined MS/HS bands.

2015-2016
Our 2015-2016 school year was another year of growth and success. "Taming of the Shrew" was our first ever student directed play. Shannon Lee and Griffin Buch directed a gender-flipped version of the show (allowing our cast of many girls to fight over a couple of boys). "Camp Rock: The Musical" was performed in April, co-directed with Mrs. Angel Call and featuring our first live accompaniment band. The advanced choirs competed at Burbank Blast and Sierra Serenade brought home the 2nd place trophy in the Novice Women's category. The band, orchestra, and Wolfgang choirs competed at Music In The Parks-Disneyland and represented the school well with first place finishes in their categories.

We tackled our first dramatic Shakespeare work, Julius Caesar. Josh Vavra and Josh Davis assisted in directing. We also invited students from our Rocklin Academy feeder schools to audition for roles in our spring musical, The Sound of Music. Angel Call directed the spring musical, with vocal assistance from Miken Dayton.
